DIY. Bring the garden in!

For those of you that live in Canada, you most likely truly understand what I say when I mean the Summer doesn't last long so you better enjoy it while you can. No, it does not snow 12 months of the year however yes, some years it does feel like that. Yes, we do have days with sun, however also experience many days throughout the Fall and Winter season without it. This is why it is important to take advantage of every day you can during the Summer months.

Due to the climate, our growing season is shorter than it would be in other countries and we have the opportunity to experience flower beds and gardens for select months only. Therefore, why not bring the garden in? You would be surprised how good a simple task such as this makes you feel. Instead of spending $8 at your local grocer, go outside and cut your own flowers. In 5 minutes, you can have a beautiful arrangement, it really is that simple!

DIY. String Pendant Lamp.

For the past few years I have been searching for that 'just right' pendant light for my den. Sound familiar? Many of us have been there, some of us have found that perfect fixture, while others have conceded to the fact that perhaps that fixture simply doesn't exist.

Creating the fixture
While watching Cityline (a local design show in Toronto), that lightbulb finally clicked. For years I had been eyeing a fixture @ Elte, however realized I had other purchases that were more important to make around the house. My conclusion? DIY.

At first, I figured this would probably end up being one of those daunting tasks that never end up completed but rather sit in the house waiting to be finished. This project was different, mostly due to the simplicity and outcome of the product.

Interested in making your own? Out of all of the websites I found the site below to be the most useful. Total cost?
