DIY. String Pendant Lamp.

For the past few years I have been searching for that 'just right' pendant light for my den. Sound familiar? Many of us have been there, some of us have found that perfect fixture, while others have conceded to the fact that perhaps that fixture simply doesn't exist.

Creating the fixture
While watching Cityline (a local design show in Toronto), that lightbulb finally clicked. For years I had been eyeing a fixture @ Elte, however realized I had other purchases that were more important to make around the house. My conclusion? DIY.

At first, I figured this would probably end up being one of those daunting tasks that never end up completed but rather sit in the house waiting to be finished. This project was different, mostly due to the simplicity and outcome of the product.

Interested in making your own? Out of all of the websites I found the site below to be the most useful. Total cost?

Balloon: $1 - Dollarama
Rubber gloves: $1 - IKEA
Drying time - 24 hours
String: $5 - Michaels
Elmers School Glue: $5 - Staples OR you may also choose to make your own
Pendant cord: $3 - IKEA
Pendant base: $12 - West Elm (on sale) - Various colours available - Red, Yellow, Black
*Note this item may no longer be in stock therefore Home Depot would probably be your next best bet!
